Thrice as Nice: Hickory On Verge of Sweep after Walk-off Win
|
The Hickory Crawdads and the Westwood Bruins went into extra innings at Crawdad Park, with Hickory emerging victorious. The 5-4 win means the Crawdads are now a game away from sweeping the Bruins from the Division Series. Despite the loss, Bruins right-hander Rodrigo Izquierdo had a strong outing in which he threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives Hickory a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 series.
Hickory got a knockout punch from Mike D'Urso. The catcher hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"We found a way to get it done," D'Urso said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Crawdad Park in Hickory.
