Mountaineers Hammered by Sato, Drop Game 3 to Mermen
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of left fielder Hiromichi Sato, the Corpus Christi Mermen stopped the visiting Winchester Mountaineers, 5-2, in Game 3 of the League Championship Series. Sato was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Mermen, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 1.
Alex Morales dealt the Mountaineers a blow in the bottom of the sixth. Batting with the bases loaded and Corpus Christi leading 3-2, Morales hit a first pitch fastball for a 2-run single.
Corpus Christi manager Arturo Colon commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Mermen Field in Corpus Christi.
