Critical Game 5 Goes to Host Marshals, 10-3
|
The Baxter Springs Marshals moved to within one game of the League Championship Series, downing the visiting Montreal Royals at Marshals Ballpark by a score of 10-3. Marshals left-hander Joe Miller had a strong outing in which he threw 5.2 innings allowing 3 runs. The win gives the Marshals a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-7 Division Series.
An inflection point occurred with one out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Marshals third baseman George Hutchison hit a changeup from Mark Stuart for a bases-clearing double. Just like that, Baxter Springs was up, 4-3.
"Joe gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Baxter Springs skipper Justin Watts.
The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, September 29th , 2026 at Turtles Ballpark in Montreal.
