Almost There: Fremont On Cusp of DS Triumph After 6-3 Win
|
The Fremont Marshalls moved to within one game of the League Championship Series, downing the Montreal Royals on the road at Turtles Ballpark by a score of 6-3. Marshalls right-hander Steve Oswald had a strong outing. He threw 5.2 innings allowing 3 runs. The win gives the Marshalls a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Division Series.
Fremont used the timely hitting of Charlie Harrison to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Marshalls on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We have a lot of confidence in Steve," said Fremont manager Matt Blade.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Turtles Ballpark in Montreal.
