Mad Ants Rally to Nose Past Quebec
Belmont Park was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.

The Mad Ants grabbed a win, 1-0, at Belmont Park, overcoming a fine effort from Quebec pitcher Jose Ceballos. Ceballos went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Pete Mead notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 4 innings. His record now sits at 2-1.

In the top of the eighth, Portland got a clutch hit from Neil Zander. The second baseman belted a solo home run, putting the Mad Ants up, 1-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a decisive one.

Zander told a Portland Daily News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.

The Aces fall to 6-8 and continue their lackluster start to the 2023 season.
