Portland pitcher George Robertson had a large part in his team subduing the Laredo Ghosts, 6-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. The winner was Robertson. He threw 6.0 innings of 2-hit ball. The loser was John Brown. Junior Millner closed the game out for Portland, earning his 1st save.

Jonathan McElwain had a big 3-run home run for the Mad Ants in the bottom of the third inning. With Portland leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a slider from 25-year old left-handed pitcher John Brown and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Mad Ants on top, 4-0.

"It never gets old," said McElwain. "Winning, that is."

The loss drops Laredo to 7-6.
