Stampede Suffer One-Run Loss at Portland
The Portland Mad Ants picked up a win at Mad Ants Ballpark, topping the Lubbock Stampede, 5-4. On the mound for Portland was left-hander Josh Huggins. He played a principal role in the triumph. Huggins yielded 3 runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. His record improves to 1-1. Lubbock, with the loss, is 6-5.

Portland got a big at-bat from Centralia, Illinois native Jon Fritz, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a run-scoring double. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Mad Ants ahead, 5-0.

"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Fritz said in reaction to the win.
