The Montreal Royals downed the Nashville Lasers, 6-0, at Turtles Ballpark. Montreal pitcher Josh Bass definitely brought his A-game. The winner was Bass. He threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Kyle Connell. The Royals are off to a tough start, getting just their 3rd win in 12 games.
Gus Marquez had a big 2-run home run for the Royals in the bottom of the first inning. With Montreal leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a screwball from Kyle Connell and swatted a home run to left. It was his 4th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Royals ahead, 3-0.
"Getting the win feels nice," said Marquez. "More importantly, I had a good game."
