Kase, Portland Prevail in Pitchers' Duel
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Portland Mad Ants and the Montreal Canadiens, 30-year old left-handed pitcher Owen Kase proved to be the difference. The Portland left-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-0 Mad Ants win. Rich Wilkinson was credited with the save for Portland, his 2nd of the season. The loss puts Montreal at 3-6.
The famously hardworking Kase handled the Canadiens all day, notching 8 strikeouts in 6.1 innings while allowing 2 hits. Kase goes to 1-1 on the year with 14 strikeouts.
"It was our day today," Kase told the Portland Observer. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
