The Nashville Lasers defeated the Lubbock Stampede, 2-1, in Stars Conference action at Lasers Ballpark. Nashville pitcher Jaden Melrose had a standout performance. Melrose, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 4 walks. The loss has the Stampede at 3-3.

Marc Toney drove in one run for Nashville. The 25-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Stephen Stride. It was his 3rd RBI of the season.

"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Lasers manager Kenny McElhaney, "I like our chances."
