Royals Handed 5-1 Loss
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of the 24-year old right fielder Felipe Hinojos, the Portland Mad Ants stopped the Montreal Royals, 5-1. Portland reliever Owen Kase snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jim Patterson shouldered the loss. The victory makes Portland 3-0.
Neil Zander had a big 3-run home run for the Mad Ants in the bottom of the third inning. With Portland leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a sinker from 31-year old right-handed pitcher Jim Patterson and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Mad Ants on top, 5-0.
Portland manager Will Berman commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
