The Hartford Matadors and Montreal Canadiens squared off at Ballpark of Tacoma.

Brad MacNeil had an impact in the 9-2 Hartford win over Montreal. The 23-year old second baseman was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Chris Fuller earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts in 6 innings of work.

The Canadiens had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Matadors going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Evan Stowe came to the plate. Stowe hit a 3-run home run on a 2-2 fastball from Montreal hurler Jacob Hodge. It was Stowe's 1st home run of the year.

"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said Hartford skipper Jesse Heugly.

With the loss, Montreal falls to 0-3.
