Glendale wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Terry Droubay, falling to the Portland Mad Ants, 2-1. Droubay threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Mitch Detzel was credited with the save for Portland, his 1st of the season. Glendale now is 1-1.

Adam Piper took Terry Droubay deep in the bottom of the sixth. His 2-run home run put the Mad Ants on top, 2-1. In all, Piper had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Piper. "And not try to do too much."
