The Hartford Matadors had to overcome a fine effort from Portland pitcher Junior Millner to win, 4-3, at Ballpark of Tacoma. Millner went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs. Hartford pitcher Fernando Garcia got the win. He's now 1-0. Oscar Orduno was tagged with the loss. Hartford, with the win, is 2-0.

The Matadors got a clutch hit from second baseman Steve Doyle. In the bottom of the 21st, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Matadors.

Doyle said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
