Fremont Sent Home with 4-2 Loss
|
Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Chesapeake Tailgators were eager to watch Jimmy Miano square off against Mike Martinez of the visiting Fremont Marshalls. In the end, the Tailgators won the game, 4-2, with Jimmy Miano leading the way. Chesapeake reliever George Sisco picked up the win. Mike Martinez took the loss for Fremont. John Gray finished to wrap up his 1st save.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Trey Maughan came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Fremont pitcher Ruben Torres, he hit a full count fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Chesapeake on top, 4-2.
"It's a mindset," said Miano. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
