The St. Catharines Blue Jays put one in the win column on Opening Day at Engineers Ballpark. The Blue Jays defeated the Deltaville Deltas, 9-5 in 10 innings. St. Catharines designated hitter Izzy Leyva was instrumental in his team's success. He was 2 for 5 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With one out, Leyva hit a fastball from Caleb Jordan for a grand slam home run. The Blue Jays, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"Always feels extra good winning this kind of game," said Leyva.
