Gangsters Earn 4-2 Home Win
|
Chicago pitcher Josh Wilkes did his part in helping his team defeat the Boston Whistlers, 4-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. Wilkes, now 8-10, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The third-place Gangsters lifted their record to 45-63.
Willie Bravo was 1 for 3 with a walk for Chicago. With two out and the game tied in the bottom of the sixth inning, Bravo had a clutch at-bat. Facing Boston hurler Jay Helm, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Gangsters a 3-2 lead.
"Josh is a tough competitor," said Chicago manager Antonio Valdez.
