Whistlers Rally Late to Clip San Diego
|
Boston beat San Diego at Whislters Park, escaping with a 4-3 win. The win in large part was due to right fielder Willie Kirkham. He belted 2 home runs. Joe Schroeder, who leads the AC in innings pitched with 142.0, was the winner. He's now 10-6. The loser was Brad Antol. Blake Bryant recorded his 24th save for Boston.
Boston took the lead, 4-3, on Rich Cloutier's 5th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off San Diego pitcher Brad Antol in the bottom of the eighth.
"It feels good to get this one," Cloutier told the Boston Gazette.
The Whistlers raised their record to 55-49.
