Cusack Shines in 8-7 San Francisco Win
|
Thanks in large part to first baseman Noel Cusack, the San Francisco Fire beat the Chicago Gangsters, 8-7. Cusack was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. The winner was Mike Dineen in relief. His record improves to 1-5. Nick Thompson took the loss. San Francisco is now 40-63. Chicago is 43-60.
San Francisco designated hitter Luis Munoz contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a cutter to left-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 104th hit of the season and put the Fire ahead, 6-4.
"We took home the win," said Munoz. "What's not to like?"
