Whistlers Earn 3-2 Home Win
Boston beat Chicago at Whislters Park, eking out a 3-2 win. The triumph was primarily due to right fielder Willie Kirkham. He was 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks. The first-place Whistlers, at 53-48, lead the American Conference Central Division by 8 games.

The Whistlers got a big hit from third baseman Brian Roseman. In the bottom of the sixth, Roseman smacked a 2-run home run off Chicago pitcher Brian Kauppinen. It was his 18th home run of the season. Suddenly, the Whistlers were ahead, 3-2.

Kirkham said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
