Stanford Takes Sweet 16 in Deciding Game
Depending on your loyalties, the Sweet 16 was either thrilling or heartbreaking.

The series went down to its final game, with the Stanford Cardinals and the Penn State Nittany Lions giving their fans plenty of drama. In the end, the Cardinals came out on top, winning 9-8 at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond today to take the series 2-1.

"We're lucky to be going into the Elite 8," said Stanford pitcher Zach Verret. "If all the series are like this, it'll definitely be an entertaining postseason."

Verret earned series MVP honors, hitting for a .500 average, with 2 home runs, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored.

The Stanford Cardinals will play against the Ohio State Buckeyes in the next round. Ohio State won their series against the Florida State Seminoles 2 games to 1. The Elite 8 schedule will be announced after the Sweet 16 finishes.
