Gangsters Hang 4-1 Loss on Captains
|
The Chicago Gangsters beat the Tampa Bay Captains, 4-1, at The Hideout. Starting pitcher Sam Palacios was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Palacios yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 10. His record improves to 1-4. Braden Shaw was credited with the save for Chicago, his 3rd of the season.
Jason Bear, who is tied for 5th in the AC with a .309 batting average, took Tampa Bay hurler Jeremy Schroeter deep in the bottom of the first. His 2-run home run put the Gangsters on top, 2-0. In all, Bear had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"We did the things it takes to win a ballgame," said Chicago manager Antonio Valdez.
The defeat makes Tampa Bay 36-63.
