The Detroit Giants could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Julian Bryant into a win. Instead, the Chicago Gangsters prevailed, 5-3. Bryant threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. Chicago reliever Nick Slover picked up the win to move to 4-1. Julian Bryant suffered the loss. Butch Saulters, credited with the save, is now 2 for 2 in save opportunities.

The Gangsters got a big at-bat from right fielder Matt Budish. For the game, Budish went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 15th home run of the season gave Chicago a 3-1 lead.

Chicago manager Antonio Valdez commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
