Scorpions Down Fire, 5-3
|
Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at San Francisco Grounds.
The Syracuse Scorpions picked up a win at San Francisco Grounds, knocking off the San Francisco Fire, 5-3, in 10 innings. Starting pitcher Carlos Mejia played a key role in the triumph. Syracuse reliever John Landgren picked up the win to move to 3-1. Jesus Henriguez suffered the loss.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Guillermo Ramos? The 30-year old shortstop Ramos stroked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put Syracuse up, 5-3. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Mejia.
The Scorpions go to 27-67 with the win.
