Dollywood Takes 1-0 Series Lead with Walk-off Win
|
The Dollywood Partons combined strong pitching and timely hitting to take Game 1 of the World Series, 2-1, in a walk-off win over the Santa Rosa Desperados.
The Partons got a solid performance from starter Sean Hill. The right-handed Hill threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball in the win, which gave the Partons a 1-0 lead to start the best-of-7 series.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Dollywood right fielder Kevin Johnson, facing Ruben Torres, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Partons the 2-1 win.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Johnson said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Dolly Parton Ballpark in Pigeon Forge.
