Already down in the Championship Series, the Maine Pines put on their best show, beating the Charleston Shiners by a final score of 1-0. Matt Graham was special. He threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. Maine now trails Charleston 2-1 in the best-of-7 affair.

The decisive blow was delivered by Jose Valverde in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a solo home run off 21-year old left-handed pitcher Shane Kidd to win the game for Maine. The home crowd went nuts.

"The ending was a real humdinger," Valverde told reporters after the game.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hannaford Dome in Portland.
