Road Win Lifts Joilet to 1-0 Lead in CS
|
The Joilet Jesters started the League Championship Series in style, winning on the road against the Lubbock Stampede at Reagor Dykes Stadium by a score of 4-2 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Jesters right-hander Steve Cates threw 6.1 innings allowing 1 run.
Joilet used the hitting of J.P. Baldwin to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Jesters on top, 2-1. For the game, Baldwin had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Baldwin.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Reagor Dykes Stadium in Lubbock.
