Waugh, Blue Jays Wallop Desperados in Game 5 of CS
St. Catharines right fielder Ryan Waugh was the key at Keelhaulers Ballpark, as he powered the Blue Jays to victory in a critical Game 5 of the League Championship Series. The Blue Jays took the 8-2 win over the Santa Rosa Desperados to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series.

With the game tied, 2-2, in the top of the fifth, Waugh had a key at-bat for St. Catharines. With the bases loaded, Waugh hit a run-scoring single off Amir Hardnett, making the score 3-2, Blue Jays.

"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," St. Catharines manager Freddy Coss told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."

The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, September 26th , 2023 at Engineers Ballpark in St. Catharines.
