When he got to Moncton, Alex Hernandez was just worrying about staying on the roster. Today, he was starring in the Division Series.

The 17-year-old rookie right-hander shut out the visiting Buffalo Bellflowers, 4-0, in a remarkable performance at Mapleton Yards. With the win, the Mounties took a 3-0 lead in the best-of-7 Division Series.

Moncton starter Alex Hernandez pitched like a boss. The 5-foot-10 right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits over 8.1 innings.

"I felt good. I felt like I was locating the ball well and I was able to keep them off-balance," said Hernandez.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Mapleton Yards in Moncton.
