Marauders Trip Whistlers, 6-3
|
Getting a good performance from left fielder Danny Pierce, the Philadelphia Marauders defeated the Boston Whistlers, 6-3. Pierce was 1-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Marauders. William Deel, the winning pitcher, is now 14-2. He went 5.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits, while fanning 9 and walking 2. Vince Mellon got the save, his 22nd in 23 chances.
Philadelphia grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Pierce hit a 3-run home run off Danny Offen. His 20th home run of the season put the Marauders out in front, 5-2.
Philadelphia manager Danny Ordaz said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
