Nick Turpen, who leads the AC in wins with 10, was locked in. The right-hander led the Detroit Giants to a 3-1 win against the Syracuse Scorpions at Scorpion Stadium. With this game in the books, Detroit is 50-38, Syracuse 26-62.

Detroit used a clutch at-bat from Ramon Dozal to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Giants ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Turpen. "Successful pitchers do it."
