Antonio Higuera, who finished 3rd in the AC in strikeouts with 152 in 2021, had a strong outing for the Boston Whistlers against the Detroit Giants at Whislters Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 8-2 win. In 8 innings, Higuera surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 5. He allowed 2 runs. Oliver Damon had a big bases-clearing double for the Whistlers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Boston leading 3-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 24-year old left-handed pitcher Phil White and swatted a double to left. It was his 14th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Whistlers ahead, 6-1.

"We were able to put some runs on the board," said Higuera after the game.
