Chicago Squanders Great Game by Bear
|
The Chicago Gangsters and Philadelphia Marauders provided some drama for the home crowd.
Despite a fine performance by shortstop Jason Bear, the Chicago Gangsters lost to the Philadelphia Marauders, 7-6. Bear was 4-4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Chris Jacoby earned his 20th save in 21 chances.
Philadelphia used a timely hit from Art McDonald to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Marauders ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a difference-maker.
"I felt good up there," said McDonald. "I saw the ball well."
Chicago's current losing streak is now 7 games.
