Martel Rips Julian for 5 Hits Thursday, August 8th , 2024 Aurora Paints third baseman Greg Martel had a day to remember at Jammers Park, ripping apart the Julian Jammers and sparking the 8-6 Paints win. Martel wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-5. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Martel told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it." Greg Martel singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
