The Waco Warlocks picked up a win at Warlocks Grounds, taking down the Newport Unicorns, 4-3. Starting pitcher Pete Bowden was a big reason why. The Warlocks improved their record to 60-75 with the win over Newport.

The Unicorns had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Warlocks going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old catcher Jeff Johnson came to the plate. Johnson hit a 2-run double on a first pitch fastball from Newport hurler Danny Fleitas. It was Johnson's 17th double of the year.

"We took home the win," said Johnson. "What's not to like?"
