Morgan on Fire, 5-for-8 Against Julian
Thursday, June 20th , 2024
Justin Morgan was on quite a roll as he knocked the ball all over Thunder Wolves Stadium, collecting 5 hits. His day of glory wasn't able to win the game, however. The Julian Jammers got the 31-30 victory over the Tacoma Thunder Wolves.
"I never realized that a few hits could cause so much commotion," the second baseman said in the clubhouse after the game, crowded by reporters. "Headlines and highlights are great, but it takes a lot of luster off it that we lost."
After his first couple of hits, all eyes in the ballpark were on him each time Morgan stepped into the batter's box. Even some opposing fans were pulling for him, knowing they were watching a little slice of league history unfold.
When asked what the secret of hitting so well is, he smiled and said "relax, concentrate, and hit the ball where they ain't."
That's exactly what he did, as Morgan finished the game with 5 hits in 8 at-bats and a line in the record book. Justin Morgan grounded out in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 4th, singled in the 6th, struck out in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and doubled in the 9th.
So far this season, Morgan has gotten 85 hits in 252 at-bats for a .337 batting average with 13 home runs. His stats include 62 RBIs and 64 runs scored. He has played in 64 games.
