He may have less experience than most of his ABA Junior College peers, but that didn't slow Steve Nebeker down at all in 2024.

At the age of 20, the Johnson County Community College left fielder has been named the winner of the ABA Junior College Most Valuable Player Award.

He had a .354 batting average and a .416 on-base percentage this year. In 50 games he piled up 69 hits, 25 doubles, 2 triples, 5 home runs, 34 RBIs and 33 runs scored.

"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."

He received 4 first place votes out of a possible 6. Kyle Twigg of the College of Southern Nevada Coyotes finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Reed Gomez of the Johnson County Community College Cavaliers finished third.

What does it take to win the Pitcher of the Year Award?

Just ask Chris Hall of the Johnson County Community College Cavaliers -- the latest ABA Junior College Pitcher of the Year Award winner.

"My dad always told me to dream big and dream always," he said. "It's not like I shoot for the Pitcher of the Year Award," he said. "I have big aspirations for what I want to do in this game and what I want to achieve in a long career."

The Cavaliers pitching ace made some of his dreams come true this year, winning 5 games and losing only 4. In 11 starts, Hall registered a 2.28 ERA and limited other clubs to a .238 batting average. He fanned 74 in 67 innings and issued 13 walks.

He received 6 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Vance Lancaster of the Crowder College Roughriders finished second in voting, while Alpha Bauman of the Santa Fe College Saints finished third.
