5-for-9 Day for Gutierrez Sunday, May 10th , 2026 It was a hits blitz for Mario Gutierrez at Wegman's Field. The Buffalo Bellflowers shortstop tore into the Saint Pierre and Miquelon Pirates for 5 hits in 9 at-bats, but it wasn't enough to win the game. The Pirates swept past the Bellflowers, 17-16, to ruin Gutierrez's day. "We weren't locating our pitches well," Buffalo manager Andy Perez explained after the game. "Once you get behind in the count, you have to make really good pitches, rather than pretty good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today. Getting 5 hits from Mario was nice but it wasn't enough." Mario Gutierrez struck out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th, flied out in the 7th, struck out in the 8th, doubled in the 10th and grounded out in the 12th.
