Bates Swings for the Cycle
Sunday, May 3rd , 2026
Requiring speed, power, and regular contact, the cycle is often seen as a test of a complete hitter. For Kenneth Bates, consider that test passed.
The 20-year-old first baseman hit for the cycle at Imperials Ballpark, to help the Jacksonville Nationals triumph, 14-8, over the Chuluota Imperials. All told, Bates delivered 4 hits in 6 at-bats with 5 runs batted in and 1 run scored.
"It feels good of course, but I'm not going to kid anyone -- there's a lot of luck in hitting for the cycle," he said after the game. "Several unique things have to come together all in the same game."
Kenneth Bates grounded out in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Marco Torres in the 5th, hit an RBI triple in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
On the season, Bates is batting .376 with 11 home runs and 34 RBIs. He has played in 24 games.
