Big Day with Bat: Rick 5-for-5 Thursday, May 12th , 2022 Jeff Rick got the glory and the headlines, but the Saint Pierre and Miquelon Pirates left with the win. The Long Island third baseman easily handled the Pirates pitching, going 5-for-5, but his Long Island Torpedoes came out on the short end of the 9-7 score. Rick told BNN reporters in the postgame interview he would happily trade "three or four" of his hits for a win. "Heck, maybe even all of them," he said with a laugh. "Right now, it just seems like one loss in a long season but who knows what it could mean at the end." Jeff Rick singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 9th. In 34 games this season, Rick is batting .329 with 46 hits and 11 home runs.
