Jeff Rick got the glory and the headlines, but the Saint Pierre and Miquelon Pirates left with the win. The Long Island third baseman easily handled the Pirates pitching, going 5-for-5, but his Long Island Torpedoes came out on the short end of the 9-7 score.

Rick told BNN reporters in the postgame interview he would happily trade "three or four" of his hits for a win.

"Heck, maybe even all of them," he said with a laugh. "Right now, it just seems like one loss in a long season but who knows what it could mean at the end."
