Wimberley Named Top Reliever for NC Saturday, October 19th , 2024 Chris Wimberley was a calming influence out of the Buffalo Bellflowers bullpen this season. His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 21-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the Northern Conference Reliever of the Year Award for 2024. The Weston, Florida native won the award with 5 saves in 37 relief appearances, 44 strikeouts in 47 innings and a record of 3-3 to go with his 1.72 ERA. He received 15 first place votes out of a possible 24. Angel Alvarez of the Whitby Bats finished second in voting with 9 first place votes, while Bobby Simpson of the Buffalo Bellflowers finished third.
