Earthquakes Win League Championship Series
Thursday, September 21st , 2023
Many baseball pundits expected a close series in the Southern Conference League Championship Series. It turned out quite a bit different.
The Ft. Wayne Earthquakes swept aside the Haviland Thrashers to advance to the World Series, winning the final game by a 3-2 score at Ballpark of Haviland.
The series MVP was left fielder Bobby Barnes, who hit .643 with a .688 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 3 runs.
"We expected this series to go right down to the wire, so to sweep is a bit of a surprise," he said. "But we'll take it."
The Ft. Wayne Earthquakes don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Terra Linda Chargers - Buffalo Bellflowers series. Terra Linda leads the series 3 games to 2. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
