Baray Grabs NC Reliever of the Year Award Thursday, October 13th , 2022 Rafael Baray said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 22 years old. But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Whitby Bats rising star has won the Northern Conference Reliever of the Year Award for 2022. He captured the award on the strength of his 0.85 ERA over 84.1 innings. He also had 8 saves in 48 relief appearances, 69 strikeouts and only 34 walks. He received 24 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Matt Drayton of the Buffalo Bellflowers finished second in voting, while Dan Martin of the Saint Pierre and Miquelon Pirates finished third.
