Thompson Torches Cubs for 5 Hits
Friday, June 27th , 2025
There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day.
Justin Thompson is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-6 against the Franklin Cubs at Franklin Park. The monster effort from the 21-year-old second baseman helped the Lincoln Princes get the win, 12-6.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Cubs manager Kerry McElree. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today."
Justin Thompson doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, walked in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 8th and struck out in the 9th.
