Torpedoes Pitching Ravaged by Perez
Thursday, May 23rd , 2024
Franklin second baseman Justin Perez could do no wrong in his team's 16-11 win over the Torpedoes, as he collected 5 hits.
"Things were in his favor in every one of his at-bats," Torpedoes skipper Moises Gonzalez said to the press corps after the game. "He got hitters' counts."
Perez agreed, saying that getting ahead early in the counts was "the key" to his game.
"Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit," he said. "You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready."
Justin Perez hit a solo-shot off Juan Rodriguez in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Juan Rodriguez in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Miguel Mosquera in the 5th, singled in the 7th and flied out in the 7th.
This season, Perez is swinging the bat at a .562 pace. He has hit 3 home runs and scored 9 times, while driving in 10. His on-base percentage is .600 and he has played in 8 games.
