Wildcats Fortner Gone for Year
Saturday, April 13th , 2024
The doctors have spoken and Dan Fortner of the Arizona Wildcats didn't like what he heard. The 20-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Fortner sustained his season-ending injury during the Arizona State Sun Devils game yesterday at Phoenix Municipal Stadium. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Arizona medical staff reported Fortner had shoulder inflammation and would be absent from the lineup for at least 4-5 months.
This year, Fortner has gone 0-2 with an ERA of 4.13 and has 21 strikeouts in 28.1 innings.
