Cavaliers Prevail, as Sweet 16 Goes to the Wire Tuesday, May 10th , 2022 Virginia Cavaliers won a nail-biting series against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 2-1, wrapping up the Sweet 16 finale 15-2 at Davenport Field at Disharoon Park. Cavaliers first baseman Andre Green was named the series MVP. He batted .462, drove in 5 runs and scored 4 to lead Virginia into the next round of play. "Andre was real solid for us, real solid," said Cavaliers manager Collin Romero. "I normally say I'd like to have nine of him out there, but thankfully we got by with just one this time." The Virginia Cavaliers will play against the Wisconsin Badgers in the next round. Wisconsin won their series against the Michigan Wolverines 2 games to 1. The Elite 8 schedule will be announced after the Sweet 16 finishes.. |
