Schelling Goes Long 3 Times Sunday, April 16th , 2023 It was a good day for the Oklahoma Sooners and an exceptional one for Ian Schelling. The 20-year-old right fielder sent three bombs out of the park to help the Sooners beat the Arizona State Sun Devils, 11-7, at Phoenix Municipal Stadium. "When you're in the zone, the game really slows down," Schelling said when asked about his performance later. "I couldn't even tell you what pitches were thrown. Today feels great, but it is a long season and tomorrow is another day." For the day, he scored 3 times, drove in 8 runs and smacked 3 hits in 5 at-bats. Ian Schelling hit a solo-shot off Mike McManigle in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Mike McManigle in the 4th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Dan Gutowski in the 5th, flied out in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th. Schelling is batting .336 with 11 home runs and 36 RBIs this season. |
