Paul Goes on Rampage Against Hawkeyes Friday, April 4th , 2025 Doug Paul was at the head of a Michigan State Spartans hit parade at Drayton McLane Baseball Stadium at John H. Kobs Field. The 19-year-old went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, but it was the Iowa Hawkeyes that marched off with the 10-7 win. "We didn't have it today," griped Spartans skipper Ben Kuehnel following the game. "Doug did fine, but as a team, we didn't do it with the bats and we didn't do it pitching." Paul did more than fine, dominating the Hawkeyes at the plate during his record-making 5-for-6 performance. "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging shortstop told reporters. "When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats." Doug Paul flied out in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 10th. Paul is hitting .272 for the season with 3 home runs, 13 RBIs and 10 runs scored. He has 25 hits in 92 at-bats and played in 23 games. |
