5-Hit Barrage by Johnson Thursday, April 13th , 2023 Speaking with reporters after a dominating hitting performance, Kevin Johnson said his club's tilt with the Kansas Jayhawks "felt almost like batting practice." The 21-year-old left fielder went a remarkable 5-for-6 at the plate. "I saw the ball well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted," he recalled later. However, his sensational day wasn't enough for the TCU Horned Frogs, who were topped by the Jayhawks, 11-10. "It's a good lesson for him, I guess," Horned Frogs manager Mike White said. "Sometimes Kevin is going to lose. But I would rather him go 5-for-6 and lose than go 0-for-6 and lose." Kevin Johnson doubled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Dan Logan in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Cody McNicholas in the 5th, struck out in the 7th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 11th. To date this year, Johnson is batting .313 with 4 home runs. |
