Commodores End Kettle Streak
Tuesday, May 4th , 2021
It was a doubly miserable day for Steve Kettle of the Kansas State Wildcats, as he saw his 20-game hitting streak end and his team lose, 6-5, to the Vanderbilt Commodores at Charles Hawkins Field. The 18-year-old first baseman was held hitless in 5 at-bats by the Commodores.
"Anyone on a 20-game hitting streak is going to be a tough out," Vanderbilt manager Jorge Nieves said later. "But we had a plan and we were careful about it, and got it done."
For the year, Kettle has hit .332 with 11 home runs, 51 RBIs and scored 34 runs.
