Spartans LF Hofland Gets the Cycle Monday, May 3rd , 2021 Jim Hofland was at the front of a Spartans hit parade at Drayton McLane Baseball Stadium at John H. Kobs Field. The left fielder finished 5-for-7 and hit for the cycle as Michigan State triumphed, 21-1, over the Florida State Seminoles. "Jim was putting on a real clinic out there," Michigan State manager Ben Kuehnel said, following the game. Hofland finished the game with 9 RBI and had 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 2 home runs. Jim Hofland flied out in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, tripled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Ian Matherne in the 7th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Billy Tipler in the 8th. This season, Hofland has banged out 69 hits in 215 at-bats for a .321 average with 6 home runs. He is getting on base at a .362 pace and his totals also include 32 RBIs and 41 runs scored. |
